Five things to watch as AWF Overdrive XIII takes over Phoenix

Gabe Roka faces two dangerous challengers, a bitter rivalry gets chained together and three teams enter a TLC match with championship gold hanging in the balance.

Overdrive has never been built to idle.

On Saturday, Aug. 29, the Arizona Wrestling Federation returns to Bull Shooters in Phoenix with a card designed to create chaos at nearly every level of the promotion. Three championships will be defended, an anniversary battle royal could produce AWF’s next breakout star and several personal rivalries appear ready to reach their breaking points.

The doors open at 5:30 p.m. for early access, general admission begins at 6:30 and the opening bell is scheduled for 7. Tickets remain available through AWF.

Here are five things to watch when Overdrive XIII goes live.

1. Can Gabe Roka survive without being defeated?

“Youngblood” Gabe Roka earned his place atop AWF by winning the 2026 Wildcard Rumble and then defeating Clutch in what the promotion called one of the most brutal matches in its history.

Now comes a different kind of test.

Roka will defend the AWF Heavyweight Championship against J.C. Westerfield and Ca$h Cartier in a triple-threat match featuring three men who could each credibly leave Phoenix as the face of the promotion. AWF has promoted the match as a collision between three of Arizona’s top stars.

Westerfield brings championship experience and the patience to wait for one opening. Cartier brings explosiveness, confidence and a history of surviving crowded championship situations. Roka brings the belt—but that does not necessarily bring an advantage.

In a triple threat, the champion can lose everything without being pinned.

Roka has already proven he can climb the mountain. Overdrive will reveal whether he can remain there while two of AWF’s most dangerous challengers attack from opposite sides.

2. Who owns the chain between King Khan and Da Goosh?

The four-way match may be over, but the score between King Khan and Da Goosh never reached a conclusion.

Khan captured the AWF Unleashed Championship at Summer Explosion in a fatal four-way involving Goosh, Nolan Knight and “Sexy” Roy. Afterward, Goosh attacked the new champion. Khan did not ask AWF officials for protection. He asked to be chained to him.

That request produced an Unleashed Championship dog collar match at Overdrive XIII.

This is also not unfamiliar territory for Goosh. He defeated Ray Black in a dog collar match at Triumph in 2025, meaning Khan is entering a fight against an opponent who already understands the punishment, positioning and mentality required.

There will be no running, no creating distance and no clean escape. The chain will keep both men close until one of them can no longer answer.

The question is not simply who leaves with the championship. It is what will be left of the winner.

3. Will the TLC match steal the entire show?

Lights, Camera, Faction will defend the AWF Tag Team Championship against Aerospace and the massive combination of Chubby Depp and Juicy Finau in a three-team Tables, Ladders and Chairs match.

Frescomatic and Watson have survived as champions through timing and teamwork. Aerospace’s Cosmo Orion and GMO Kaminari bring a reunited partnership built around movement and aerial offense. Chubby and Juicy bring the kind of size capable of turning every table, ladder and opponent into a weapon.

The volatile challengers have not always appeared built to coexist, but in a match where destruction matters nearly as much as coordination, that volatility could become an advantage.

AWF is billing it as three teams, two championships and one TLC match. It has all the ingredients to become either the defining tag-team match of the year or a complete catastrophe.

Probably both.

4. Can Marty Snow stop Alex Salyers from reclaiming familiar ground?

Marty Snow enters Overdrive as the AWF State Champion. Across the ring will stand a man who knows exactly what carrying that championship means.

Alex Salyers held the State Championship through some of AWF’s most demanding stipulations, including ladder, cage and last-man-standing matches. Now he is attempting to reclaim his former territory from a champion determined to make the division his own.

AWF officially announced Snow against Salyers for Overdrive XIII, creating a match between the champion of the present and a challenger whose history with the title cannot be ignored.

For Snow, a victory would establish that his reign is more than a temporary stop between eras. For Salyers, it is an opportunity to prove the division still belongs to him.

5. Who uses Overdrive to change the AWF pecking order?

Not every important development will involve a championship.

The AWF Anniversary Battle Royal gives a crowded field an opportunity to emerge from Overdrive with new momentum. It may take only one elimination, one surprise return or one unexpected winner to change the direction of the promotion heading into the fall.

Elsewhere, SOS meets Hudson Envy in a singles match after previously sharing the ring in a triple threat. Taylor Kingsley faces Charles Cassus, while Damian Desire battles Lorenzo.

Those matches may not carry the same immediate stakes as the three championship fights, but they could determine who appears on the next major poster—and who begins disappearing into the background.

Overdrive XIII will be headlined by three giants fighting for AWF’s biggest prize. By the end of the night, however, the most important development may come from someone who entered Phoenix without a championship at all.
